I want to share with you the passion for music that drives one of our local business owners, Mr. Michael Hemsworth, the creator of NewSongs School of Music.
Last week I had the fantastic opportunity to sit down with the him and learn more about his passion for bringing music alive within Elk Grove. His passions range from one on one lessons, group lessons, community events, and bringing music into the classrooms. Looking back to my days in elementary school, we had music in the classroom. We had a music teacher that would come into our class, and she would teach us about music, all the different forms of music, the different instruments, and how they worked. We were allowed to explore the art of music. As I watch the current generation and the upcoming generations, it is sad to see that exploring the art of music does not always take priority anymore, but it is encouraging to see people like Michael Hemsworth that are fighting to ensure the art of music is not lost on the upcoming generations.
Music is part of all of our lives on a daily basis; whether you are listening to it in your car, it is playing on the TV, you or your kids are rocking out to iTunes, everywhere we turn there is music. The question arises, are we still making it a priority? I can tell you I am guilty of not exploring this art enough for my child. - He is one of the warmest and kindest people. My daughter was a little timid at first and was overwhelmed by all the musical instruments and, he immediately made her feel comfortable. I could see his heart for music and for educating kids and adults alike as soon as I met him and, you can too!
