Have you ever wondered what it would be like to camp at your favorite childhood venue? Of course that is Fairytale Town!
I was able to camp under the stars this past weekend with the Girl Scouts of Heart of Central California. Arriving Friday night at 5:30, my daughter waited eagerly for the gates to open; armed with her sleeping bag and pulling the wagon with her tent we made our way in. We were able to set up our tent anywhere on the grass away from the exhibits. Choosing to set up near the stage, we enjoyed the singing, giggling, and was at the center of everything going on.
Once the back gates were locked they had a scavenger hunt planned as well as crafts. The kids were free to play until it became dark. Once night had become upon us, we joined at the stage for campfire songs and dessert. Lights went off at 10 pm and we were serenaded by the sounds of all the live animals; donkey, rooster, frogs, and the goats. At 5 am the rooster started to crow letting everyone know it was time to awake and head out to the stage for breakfast.
Having to be out by 7am was a disappointment for my daughter, but she was very excited to know that with her overnight package comes a bonus--- she was able to go back all day on Saturday to enjoy the park! This was such a great bonding experience for my daughter and I, as well as with the other girls from our troop. I cannot wait to go back next year and make this a yearly tradition.
