Feeling restless this winter? Trying crafting with your little ones to fill up your day with bonding time and fun! Here are a couple crafts that are easy to assemble with items found around the home.

In my opinion, puppets have always been one of the cutest toys. Whether it is a doll, mythical creature, or animal, I adore the way they spark creativity and use a bit of imagination.

Here's how to make a paper puppet of your own.

What you will need:

  • 8 1/2 x 11 inch (Regular size) sheet of paper (Can be any color desired)
  • Extra paper (optional)
  • Tape
  • Markers/Crayons/Colored Pencils
  • Scissors (Optional)
  • Glue (Optional)

Instructions:

      1. Fold a regular size sheet of paper into thirds, lengthwise.

      2. Close the seam of the "tube" made by the folded paper with tape.

      3. Fold the tube in half, and then fold the ends of the tube in half (in the opposite direction), so the paper will end up folded in four sections.

      4. Create any face/shape/animal on the top section with your chosen art supplies (marker/crayon/colored pencil).

      5. Optional: Cut shapes out of extra pieces of paper and add them onto your puppet with tape or glue.

Another craft that can be done with supplies from around the house is a cardboard tube creation! This can become anything from a racecar to a snowman -  let's explore some of the ways a small cardboard tube can be transformed~

Here's how to make your very own tube creation.

What you will need:

  • Small cardboard tube
  • Markers/Crayons/Colored Pencils
  • Tape or Glue
  • Optional: Colored paper, Googly-eyes, Scissors, Sticks,  any other additional items needed.

Instructions:

      1. Take the small cardboard tube and color it/cover it with colored paper and tape or glue. (Any color that you prefer to make the animal or shape desired, I will be using the colors Brown and White in order to make a Bear and Snowman tube creation).

      2. Cut out or gather other supplies needed to make your tube creation.

      3. Glue or tape together any parts that need to be attached.

      4. Enjoy your tube creation!
